Life-transforming medical research

The Move Movement Charity Challenge is exhilarating, adventurous and unique. But there is also a serious side to the competition, and each Challenger commits to support a vital cause.

All funds raised through The Move Movement will be used by Westmead Medical Research Foundation to support ‘translational research,’ world-leading medical science that transforms and literally saves the lives of both adults and children.

Translational research

Researchers and doctors at Westmead in Sydney's west work together in a 'bench to bedside' partnership to ensure that the breakthroughs and discoveries made by researchers are translated into actual benefits for patients.

At Westmead Millennium Institute for Medical Research, more than 450 of the nation’s finest minds seek better treatments and cures for debilitating and deadly diseases including cancers, HIV, liver disease and mental illnesses.

The Institute is located next to Westmead Hospital, one of the biggest clinical research hubs in the nation and the biggest teaching hospital in the southern hemisphere.

This combination of world-class medical research and extensive specialist clinical care means families in Sydney's west are uniquely placed to receive cutting-edge advances in the treatment of their diseases and illnesses.

In many cases, they have the opportunity to benefit from life-transforming and even life-saving research that, anywhere else, neither love nor money could buy.
